Henry Timrod was a poet and journalist who lived and worked in the American South during the mid-nineteenth century. Though largely forgotten today, his work was highly regarded by his contemporaries, and he was considered by many to be the unofficial poet laureate of the Confederacy. This critical study, written by George Armstrong Wauchope, provides a valuable introduction to Timrod's life and work, and offers insights into the cultural and intellectual milieu of the antebellum South. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work is in the "public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations. Within the United States, you may freely copy and distribute this work, as no entity (individual or corporate) has a copyright on the body of the work.
