Gnosis, Theophany, Theosis comprises three case studies of Clement’s interaction with the heterogeneous traditions integral to his Alexandrian background: Basilidean and Valentinian metaphysics of the Christ-event; Philo’s Scripture exegesis; and Hellenistic ethical theory based on Aristotle’s concept of telos.
