As a Black girl, McKinley was upset when one of her white classmates didn't have a valid reason for why she couldn't play the lead for Cinderella. Confused as to what he didn't see in her, McKinley came home upset from her first day of school and quickly ran off to her room. Wanting to know what was wrong, McKinley's parents patiently waited until she was ready to talk at dinner.
