In the days of castles and kings, one would find a castle tucked away in the woods, maybe not even known to anyone outside the area. In the Middle Ages, communication and travel were limited. Many people never traveled more than a few miles from home. A Castle in the Woods, by Randy Navarre, is an ideal composition for students to perform on their first concert. It is easy and sounds great. The notes are in the first few pitches of the diatonic scale, and the chords of that scale are played with no accidentals.
